Paradise group has done it again. Expanding beyond its niche
of Chinese food, the group has gone Thai – ParaThai. Located at the new OneKM
Mall at Paya Lebar, ParaThai serves up authethic Thai dishes.
With a menu of over 80 dishes, we were offered and tried
some of the signatures dishes at ParaThai.
Tom Yam Goong 4Hands S$19.90
I don’t consider a Thai meal complete without having a good
Tom Yum Soup. Spicy and tasted really authentic, the soup had a good balance of
spice, sweet and sourness. The generous serving of prawns gave the firepot that
tint of natural sweetness.
Pandan Rice 4Hands
One of the few thai that offers Pandan Rice and I must say i
was impressed with ParaThai’s pandan rice. Very fragrant and a great complement
to its dishes.
Kway Teow Song Kreang 3Hands $6.90
Essentially minced pork wrapped in rice noodles. The key is
to dip the wrap with some thai chilli sauce. Mildy sweet, I loved the crunchy
interior and that sticky exterior.
Pandan chicken 4Hands
They said that the chicken were all hand wrapped. I can’t
confirm but it sure tasted good. The pandan lingers on chicken like perfume and
again, dip with some thai chilli sauce.
Roast Duck in Red Curry 3Hands $14.90
A unique fusion Chinese-Thai
dish. My virgin try tbh but it didn’t win me over. Tender slices of roast duck
checked but the concoction of herbs and spices didn’t suit my palette well,
tasted very tangy and spicy at the same time. Weird I must say
Green Chicken Curry 3Hands
Average. You can’t go wrong with green curry but you it
won’t be the best dish on the table either.
Steamed Seabass 4Hands $29.90
In terms of value, this whole steam fish wins hands down.
Prolly one of the few places where you can get a full steam fish for under $30.
It tasted quite good too, accompanied with a homemade brth of lime juice,
garlic, chilli and lots of spring onions.
“Crying Tiger” BBQ Beef Steak 2Hands
I literally broke out in tears. A tad bland and tough. No
wonder they call it crying tiger.
Stir fried beancurd
Your everyday average vege toufu dish
Sweet Tapioca with Coconut Milk 3Hands $4.90
Seldom do you see this these days. Yummy
Mango Sticky Rice 4Hands $6.90
Ending lunch on a sweet note, the mango sticky rice with
coconut milk was good. Fresh and not over bearing.
Also, don’t forget to try their cool beverages.
overallreview: shauneeie3.5hands. A very good concept of thai cuisine in a shopping centre. Dishes served were delicious and presentable. Particularly liked the pandan rice which complements most of the dishes. Do try their awesome beverages.
